About Us
The Beginning
Diving can be a natural challenge. If you add living in a foreign country to that challenge a point has been reached where most people give up on the idea of diving in the Mediterranean all together. The Forum and Website "DivingItalyForum.com" look to fill in the holes of language and location to provide you with the necessary tools to go out and dive.
The slogan "Who’s YOUR dive buddy?" was once asked to a member of the forum and emphasizes what we wish to accomplish with this site. We want to provide you and ourselves with good and competent dive buddies and the necessary information to go dive so that we never have any excuses not to be diving!
Pay no attention to the diver behind the curtain
"Scuba Lewis" aka "Lewis" received his PADI Open Water certification on a no doubt sunny day in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1999. In 2009 he received his PADI Advanced Open Water at Ventotene Diving Academy on Ventotene Island in the Mediterranean. After AOW the dive flood gate was opened and he continued on to study the Divers Alert Network (DAN) courses for Oxygen Provider, Advanced Oxygen Provider, AED for Scuba Divers, and First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life. These courses helped significantly when Lewis and two other divers who met on the Diving Italy Forum came together to complete the PADI Rescue Diver training. In the Winter of 2010, Lewis and other divers took on the Master Scuba Diver Challenge completing the PADI Specialties: Deep Diver, EAN Enriched Air Diver, Search and Recovery Diver, Night Diver, and Underwater Navigation.
Today Lewis passes his time developing this website, DivingItalyForum.com, and working towards becoming a PADI Divemaster.
